If you’re looking for an low-key transition into trail running, and happen to be out in western North Dakota later this month, then there’s an event for you in Medora.
The Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation is sponsoring their 5th annul Badlands Trail Run on at 9:30 a.m. (MDT) on Saturday, Aug. 28. The event is a 10K run, 5K run or 5K walk. Portions of the trail are along the nationally acclaimed Maah Daah Hey Trail.
The race begins and ends at the Tjaden Terrace, near the Burning Hills Amphitheater, and registration starts at 8 a.m. The fee is$35 and includes a moisture wicking t-shirt with logo, lunch following the run at the Chuckwagon in downtown Medora and awards for various age categories.
At some point, I’d love to get out to the Maah Daah Hey Trail for some running, especially after the Running Times magazine article about the trail.
